Marketing follow-up sample task
A complete public example showing the structure and standard of an Expert Circle Marketing Desk task.
Build a live-opportunity follow-up rhythm
Why this task
Suitable opportunities are already entering the business. The problem is not simply a lack of effort; it is that the next action is too easy to delay, misunderstand or leave in one person’s memory.
The result you are creating
A single working view showing every live opportunity, its specific next action, the responsible person and the date that action is due, supported by a short weekly review.
Who should do it
You should define what counts as a live opportunity. A colleague can maintain the view and complete routine follow-up once the rules are clear.
How to do it
- Define what counts as a live opportunity: there must have been a meaningful expression of interest, not merely a name on a contact list.
- List every current live opportunity in one simple view.
- For each opportunity, record the last meaningful contact and the decision, response or information currently needed.
- Give every opportunity one specific next action. Replace vague notes such as “follow up” with the purpose of the contact.
- Assign one person to that next action and set a realistic due date.
- Remove or archive opportunities that no longer deserve active attention.
- Schedule a fifteen-minute weekly review with one rule: every live opportunity leaves the review with a current next action.
Watch-outs
- Do not treat every contact as an active opportunity.
- Do not use “follow up” as the next action without stating what the message or conversation needs to achieve.
- Do not automate messages before the decision process and ownership are clear.
- Do not create a view that only the managing director understands or updates.
Completion definition
The task is complete when every live opportunity has an owner, a specific next action and a follow-up date, and the weekly review is in the calendar.
